Selection policy goes live

British Shooting’s selection policy for international rifle and pistol events in 2018 has come into effect.

In a Commonwealth year, there are six air rifle events and eight 50m rifle events in the UK that count towards international selection.

Two of those events – the Welsh Championships in Cardiff and the Surrey Open Meeting at Bisley – have already taken place, and the next will be the Scottish Grand Prix in Carlisle on 13 January.

On the international scene, RIAC – kicking off as Target Sports goes on sale – will also count for selection.

For 25m pistol shooters, owing to legal restrictions, domestic open qualifying events cannot be held in the UK, but British Shooting’s head pistol coach will arrange eight private qualifying events, in Britain if possible. Minimum consideration scores athletes need  to achieve at a ranking event have also been updated for 2018, and are now as per the table above.
