Yorkshire Deer Stalking
Signs were good for an early start, with bucks responding in early July. I was hoping as the weather was settled dry and warm the bucks would have some fire in them. However, they never really went anywhere with this. Throughout the rut I called in many does that hardly any had bucks following. We did however manage to stalk and shoot some nice animals when the showers held off. The ones who did come to the call well were all mature animals. Rutting bucks were shot right up to 18 August. So in all it was a steady and protracted rut. The up side is they never ran off in weight, and are still showing now as I write this on 26 August.
