Sporting Rifle editor honoured

Sporting Rifle editor-in-chief Peter Carr has beaten a field of 42 international journalists to take home the Zeiss Sports Optics Journalist of the Year award.

The award was presented for his conservation work in Sporting Rifle, which has seen over £25,000 raised for the charity Save the Rhino over three years.

The funds have funded vital anti-poaching efforts at uMkhuze game reserve in South Africa and Big Game Parks in Swaziland.

Mr Carr, who also holds the editorship on Modern Gamekeeping magazines and a dual presenter-director role on The Shooting Show, said: “It was the first time in my life I have been lost for words, but I accepted this award on behalf of all of you who have supported this initiative, the other hunting journalists present, and the Blaze Publishing team, who have believed in this fundraiser from its outset. I sincerely cannot thank you enough.”

    Fantastic news!! Congratulations Pete!

Iam a huge fan of sporting rifle and the shooting show, but as a skint medical student my budget for shooting is quite restricted at the moment, so the magazine and show are a brilliant way to stay involved and connected with the shooting world.

Congratulations again,a richly deserved award in my opinion!!

  2. Great to see you take home this award Mr Carr.
