British Shooting strategy

02

British Shooting is formulating a future facilities strategy with support from governing bodies such as the National Rifle Association.

A key aspect of this work is to provide a comprehensive picture of current shooting facilities and to identify issues that will help form future investment priorities and strategic facility planning for the period 2013-17 and beyond.

The focus for the survey work is to assess current shooting facility provision in terms of its scope and quality and how it may impact participation, growth or retention in the sport, while recognising the major differences between various disciplines.

The assessment will include the suitability of facilities for able-bodied participants, for participants with a disability, and for those embarking on a talent pathway.

The survey has been developed and managed by TrioPlus Limited sport and leisure consultants, appointed by British Shooting to help develop its Facilities Strategy. As well as assessing the results of the survey, a technical guidance document will also be produced.

British Shooting’s strategic plan for the period 2013 to 2020 has been published and is available to view at www.nra.org.uk/common/files/news/13/BritishShootingStrategyMay13.pdf.
