From the Archives: Early season driven grouse on Farndale Moor

The grouse season is in full swing here in 2019, but for From the Archives, we’re taking you back to 2017 to revisit how director Pete Carr got on during a day of driven grouse.

We’ve assembled the crack shots of the Shooting Show team just a few days after the Twelfth for a sun-soaked day of driven grouse courtesy of Bernard Moss and his well-marshaled keepering team at Farndale. Director Peter Carr is in the hot seat, with Jason Doyle present for the occasion too.

A full day on the moor sees us experience some top-class shooting on lightning-fast birds – but we know it’s not just about pulling the trigger, as this shoot is also conservation in action.

We catch up with Bernard to see what goes into putting on a shoot of this scale and keeping the heather moorland and its resident wildlife in such good health.
