The USA is set to place greater restrictions on the hunting of African lions in 2016. Lions from central and western Africa would be classified as endangered while those from southern and eastern Africa would be seen as threatened, the US Fish and Wildlife Service says. This follows the high-profile illegal hunt of a semi-tame Hwange lion in 2015, which Sporting Rifle editor Peter Carr went on to national radio to condemn.
